RuneScape in a nutshell

RuneScape is an awesome game, set in a medieval time period. It is full of monsters, quests, and loads of other entertaining things that will keep you playing into the early hours of the morning. However, it is also a complicated game. Much of the game is described in the place where you start out in-game: Tutorial Island. This appropriately named island if full of guides that should pretty much tell you exactly how to do the main features of the game. I will try to stay away from the topics of everything described in Tutorial Island, for I feel it does a good enough job already. What I will tell you, though, is how and what to do after you finish your work on this extremely helpful island.

You start out in the stairway leading up to a great castle looming in front of you. This new town is named Lumbridge. It is a fairly small town, but there is a few things that newer, inexperienced players can accomplish. For example: There is a quest you can start in the castle kitchen, it involves helping the cook gather various ingredients. There are also some combat guides, and a range of other non-player characters that can help you with the things barely touched on in Tutorial Island. If this is not enough to do for you, you can travel across the bridge, and up the road northward, until you reach a very large city named Varrock. Varrock is kind of the center activity point of all goings-on in RuneScape for non-members. Here, you can find a wide variety of shops for many different purposes, such as the runes shop, the sword shop, the ranging equipment shop, and even an armor store. Yet, if this does not satisfy you, you can travel west, until you get to a small village named Barbarian Village. There is very little to do in the actual above ground section. However, if you head down a strange looking hole in one of the rocks in the center of the village, you'll find someplace called The Stronghold of Security. This informative place tells you all of the do's and don't's of keeping your account safe and secure. There is also a wide range of monsters here. Don't worry, if you stay withing the first 2 floors of the stronghold, you should be mildly safe from getting killed. This is an area that I suggest people of combat level 25 and under should avoid. But again, this is only a suggestion. North of Barbarian Village you find a small town called Edgeville. Appropriately named for being on the very edge of the Wilderness. The Wilderness is a very dangerous place where players can do combat with each other. It is infamous for many player deaths. But if you die, you will reappear in Lumbridge, on the spot where you first started the game. You will also have lost every item you were carrying, except your 3 most valuable ones. Going south back to Barbarian Village, and turning west farther down that long road, you will eventually come to the city of Falador. this is a city that is about the 75% the size of Varrock, so it is a fairly good sized town. Here, you can find the White Knight's castle, where you can start the Knight's Sword quest. This a quest that I recommend for players with a combat level of 30 or above to attempt, for it involves running past a large groups of level 53 and 56 monsters. Yet again, this is only a suggestion. Slightly east of the White Knight's castle, you can find the Dwarven Mining Guild. This is a place where only players with a mining level of 60 can enter. I'm sorry to say this is not a suggestion, the dwarves will not let anyone enter who is under that mining level. If you go slightly north-east of the Mining Guild, you will the the normal Dwarven Mines. This area is accessable to all players, but i would recommend that players who are of a very low combat to stay away from part of it, for it contains a large amount of level 14 and 32 scorpions.

This is the basic idea of the different areas of RuneScape for non-members. If suggest that you remain a non-member until most of your skill levels are around 30 or above. Even around this level, sometimes it is hard for players to function with the different places and quests that members areas have to offer. Here is where I will come to a close, I wish you the best of luck, and happy Scaping!

P.S. If you would like to talk to me in-game, my username is Dark Magi482. I am currently combat level 84, and am currently a member.
